DC’s The Flash Movie Casts Billy Crudup as Barry Allen’s Dad

It may be that slight case of superhero movie-jumping, but probably in a good way. The same way that Chris Evans still became successful as Steve Rogers/Captain America despite portraying Johnny Storm/Human Torch in the 2005 Fantastic Four film.

Billy Crudup may be playing Barry Allen's father in DC's The Flash solo movie, Variety reported. The role is still unconfirmed by Warner Bros. or DC at the moment, so it's best to take this with a grain of salt.

This adds to the growing cast list for the movie, which already announced Kiersey Clemons as Barry's friend, girlfriend, and wife Iris West. There has been talk that the Rogues will be in the movie as the major antagonists, but again, there is no confirmation for this tidbit.

For those who are not familiar, Billy Crudup has previously donned a superhero alias as Doctor Manhattan in Watchmen, one of the good superhero film adaptations of its time.

The Flash stars Ezra Miller, who plays the role of the Scarlet Speedster. The movie will be directed by Rick Famuyiwa, who is most known for his hand in Dope and Talk to Me. The story is still under tight wraps with Seth Grahame-Smith set to write the script.

Production will officially start sometime this year, so hopefully, we'll get more news as to what the story may be.

The Flash will be out in theaters sometime in March 2018.
