When TNT announced weeks ago that it will no longer be pursuing a live-action Teen Titans TV show, we thought the idea was dead. But DC Comics' Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns says otherwise.
TV Line caught up with Johns at the TCAs right after news of TNT's announcement was released.
We [at DC] have known about [Turner nixing Titans] for months and months and months. That's not new news to us. We have plans for Titans. It's a huge piece of DC and we have plans.
We suspected as much. Johns' statement isn't really surprising since it would be a waste if DC allowed the series to remain forever in development hell.
Beyond Johns' claim, there isn't much known about the series.
My guess though is The CW could take on the project. They did say last year that they want a third DC Comics-based show. They already have Arrow, The Flash, iZombie, and Legends of Tomorrow. Making a live-action Teen Titans TV show would make total sense.
If creating a new DC series from scrap doesn't sit well with them, they could still include Teen Titans characters into the aforementioned existing shows. Although, if DC said it has "huge" plans for the show, I'm expecting it to have its own spot on any network.
