Zack Snyder is oftentimes lauded for his creative visions but the truth is, the former DC Extended Universe director can be hit-and-miss. A prime example is Jesse Eisenberg's unorthodox take on iconic Superman villain Lex Luthor in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which was a complete 180 from how he was presented in the comics and even the animated series.

But despite having his fair share of critics for his bizarre portrayal of Lex, Eisenberg still gained a cult following over the years, and following his recent remark seemingly hinting he'd still be open to reprising the role in a future project, fans of the DCEU were given renewed hope that they'll see him back in the franchise.

On Twitter, the hashtag #JesseEisenbergLexLuthor quickly became a hot trending topic and you'd be surprised at the number of people who genuinely liked Jesse's version of the iconic villain. Check out some of the reactions below:

To be fair, Eisenberg did admit that he was never a fan of comic books growing up, and his Lex Luthor performance was clearly based on the script he was given. I still believe to this day that his take on Lex is an acquired taste but personally, it eventually grew on me and it's a shame we never got to see him in the Legion of Doom project that was teased during Justice League's credits scene.

Now, whether or not Jesse will be given the opportunity to reprise the role remains to be seen and at the end of the day, it's still up to the newly-formed Warner Bros. Discovery to decide if he's a good fit for their new vision for the DCEU.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is available for streaming on HBO Max.
