DC Announces The Green Lantern From Grant Morrison and Liam Sharp

As the build to SDCC 2018 continues, DC Comics has made a historic announcement; Grant Morrison will be writing a new ongoing series called The Green Lantern, which will focus on smaller police-style stories but in space. Morrison will be joined by artist Liam Sharp, who wrote and drew The Brave and The Bold: Batman and Wonder Woman, a mini-series that just concluded this week.

Revealed by IGN, the series will be a back-to-roots style situation for Hal Jordan, who has mostly been involved with epic space battles for the past few years. Morrison said that the series would focus on him being a literal space cop, solving smaller crimes in a big setting. This is space after all.

Fans hoping to see familiar faces like Guy Gardner or Kyle Rayner are going to be disappointed, as the creators have said that the series will mostly focus on Hal and a number of weird Green Lanterns. Some of them might be from older comics, while others will be brand-new creations. Either way, it sounds like an exciting new status quo for Hal Jordan, who sorely needs a break from epic battles.

The preview shows a Green Lantern spaceship crash landing on Earth, eerily similar to how Hal got his ring from the late Abin Sur. However, this spaceship is holding three deadly criminals who are now roaming Earth. Naturally, it's up to Hal to stop them.
