Daniel Radcliffe Wouldn't Mind Being Replaced as Harry Potter

Daniel Radcliffe is okay with someone else playing the iconic role of Harry Potter, according to an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. When talking about the possibility of returning in a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie, he said "I'm never going to close the door; that would be a stupid thing to do. But I think I'll be happy enough and secure enough to let someone else play it."

Talking further about accepting the role of Harry in The Cursed Child, he said, "At the moment it's not even a concern because I'm too young to play the character, but even in 10 years' time I would still feel strange about going back to it." Daniel Radcliffe is currently in his later 20s, while the iteration of Harry Potter featured in The Cursed Child is a father in his late 30's and, as time passes in the story, early 40's.

Radcliffe wasn't entirely sure if more Harry Potter was a good idea. "There's a part of me that's like, some things are better left untouched. If we went back to Potter, there's a chance we'd make what Star Wars: The Force Awakens was to the original Star Wars, but there's also the chance that we'd make Phantom Menace. So I don't want to go back to anything like that and maybe sour what people have already loved."

Radcliffe admitted he hadn't seen The Cursed Child on stage, but still thought the play's Harry, Jamie Parker, would be a fine choice to take on the role in a film version. He's also not involved at all in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but is sure Eddie Redmayne's performance will be good. "He's an Oscar winner, dude, he doesn't need my advice."

Radcliffe is doing quite well for himself without Harry Potter to fall back on, as he recently accepted the Rising Star award at the Deauville Film Festival. He just finished working on his upcoming film, The Jungle and he's also working on a script for a movie he hopes to direct.

What do you think? Would you like to see Radcliffe reprise his role as Harry?
