Cyberpunk 2077 Developer Explains Why CD Projekt Red Game Won't Have Microtransactions

We're still waiting for the release of Cyberpunk 2077 and some people are already worried that the upcoming game will feature the much-dreaded microtransactions. Luckily, CD Projekt Red head John Mamais is here to assure you that there is no such thing in the new title.

Mamais recently spoke to Gamespot about Cyberpunk 2077 and the head of the Krakow's office confirmed that they have no intention of introducing microtransactions in the game since it would make the fans unhappy.

"I think it's a bad idea to do microtransactions after you release a game. It seems like it's very profitable, though. It's probably a hard decision for the guy that runs the business to decide if we should do it or not. But if everyone hates it, why would we do something like that and lose the goodwill of our customers?" Mamais said.

That's certainly great news for fans who were already worried about all those possible microtransactions. But what can people look forward to after the release of Cyberpunk 2077? Mamais says it's possible that the title could get free DLC along with huge paid expansions similar to The Witcher 3.

"[The free DLC] was a good model for us; it worked pretty well for The Witcher 3. I don't see why we wouldn't try to replicate that model with Cyberpunk 2077. We're not talking about that yet, but it seems like that would be the smart way to go," he said.

All these awesome updates could confirm that Cyberpunk 2077 is set to become one of the best titles to look forward to in 2020. We can't wait for April to come soon.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on Google Stadia, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 16, 2020.
