CW's Batwoman: Kevin Smith is Open to Directing An Episode

There's a lot of anticipation for The CW Network's Batwoman show, which is supposedly planned for a 2019 release. We'll first see the character during the annual DC CW crossover this December, which will be told through Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl, with Legends of Tomorrow not being included for some reason. Currently, no list of directors have been named but Kevin Smith has thrown his hat in the ring.

During an interview with MTV during SDCC 2018, Smith revealed that he is quite interested in directing an episode of the show. This isn't a huge surprise since he has directed episodes for The Flash and Supergirl before but it is good seeing his enthusiasm for the properties.

As most fans know, Smith is a diehard comic book fan, often referencing them in his movies and even writing some comics himself. His runs on Daredevil and Green Arrow were liked for the most part, while Batman: The Widening Gyre and Batman: Cacophony have gotten mixed reviews.

Batwoman is still a long way away and it's not yet known if it will actually make the planned 2019 release but here is hoping it does. The character would be the first leading LGBT superhero in a series. While there have been LGBT characters in other DC shows, this would be the first time one would be the central focus of the show.
