Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon star Michelle Yeoh has been confirmed to be a part of CBS's upcoming Star Trek: Discovery series. This is the first casting reported for the show, but there's still no confirmation on what character she will portray.
The news came from Nicholas Meyer, the director of Star Trek II: The Wrath fo Khan and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Meyer is a consulting producer on the show. She revealed the news during an interview with Comingsoon: "I know Michelle Yeoh is in it."
Executive Producer Bryan Fuller did say that the main female character will be played by someone called "Number One", so this might be the character that Yeoh will be playing. Little was revealed about the show, but we do know that it will feature a female lead and an openly gay character.
Star Trek: Discovery is set to premiere in May 2017 on CBS, then all the episodes will be available on CBS All Access.
