Could Laurence Fishburne Show Up In Avengers 4 As The Silver Surfer?

It looks like some Marvel fans are hoping that Laurence Fishburne might make his way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Silver Surfer.

Followers of 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four and X-Men films know that the Matrix star provided the voice of the Sky Rider of the Spaceways while the acting was provided by Doug Jones in the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer movie back in 2007. Now, with Disney finalizing its 20th Century Fox acquisition, fans on Reddit are wondering whether Fishburne might return to voice the Silver Surfer in Avengers 4.

Though it seems unlikely that Marvel might start weaving Fox's mutant franchises into the MCU, Fishburne did tease a secret Marvel project back in November after Marvel Studios announced Fishburne's role as Bill Foster in Ant-Man and the Wasp during this year's San Diego Comic Con.

"I've got black-ish going on, I'm developing something else for Marvel that I can't talk about. It's gonna be really cool. It's gonna change the world, we hope (laughs)," Fishburne said in an interview with Collider. "I went to Marvel and pitched them something that really couldn't work out—there was a lot of legal red tape that just [was] something they couldn't work out. But then they came back with the offer for Ant-Man and the Wasp and then they said, ‘Hey, what do you think of this?' and I went ‘Oh yeah that, yes!' so…"

Could this secret project have anything to do with the Silver Surfer? Could the Silver Surfer pop up in Avengers 4? While it seems very unlikely, there's no telling, really. Let's just wait and see.

Avengers: Infinity War hits cinemas May 4, 2018, while Avengers 4 makes its big debut on May 3, 2019.
