Comcast Has Just Dropped Its Bid For 21st Century Fox

It looks like Disney finally won its battle with Comcast for the acquisition of 21st Century Fox and its TV and film assets.

According to a report by CBR, Comcast has just decided to pull its bid to acquire 21st Century Fox, allowing the Mickey Mouse House to continue with its acquisition without any further obstructions from the global telecommunications conglomerate. Taking its leave, Comcast has decided to focus on acquiring Sky, raising its bid to $34 billion so that it could gain a 61% controlling stake in the company.

"Comcast does not intend to pursue further the acquisition of the Twenty-First Century Fox assets and, instead, will focus on our recommended offer for Sky," Comcast announced in a statement.

Comcast's CEO, Brian Roberts, also went and congratulated Disney CEO Bob Iger for winning the battle. Roberts also praised Fox for creating a great company that everyone's been racing after.

"I'd like to congratulate Bob Iger and the team at Disney and commend the Murdoch family and Fox for creating such a desirable and respected company," Roberts said.

Now, with Comcast out of the way, Disney no longer has any competitors for the acquisition of Fox, especially now that the company has the antitrust approval of the US Department of Justice.

This is definitely good news for comic book fans. A lot of Marvel fans have been following the development of the Fox acquisition, hoping that the X-Men, Fantastic Four and other mutants might finally be able to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe once the merger is completed.
