Colin Trevorrow Begins Work on Star Wars: Episode IX

J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens may not be out in theaters yet, but the two films following it are already in development. Rian Johnson is already preparing to shoot for Star Wars: Episode VIII in Ireland this month. Now, the Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow recently tweeted a photo of a Lucasfilm notebook with the caption: "Back to school. #IX.", which clearly marks the beginning of his journey to develop the third film of the new Star Wars trilogy. It's probably going to wrap up a lot of things about Luke, Leia, and Han, but I hope this won't be the last Star Wars film in the saga.

I thought Lucasfilm picked a talented director to helm Episode IX; the record-breaking Jurassic World was awesome. I'm not a big fan of the franchise, but I thought that was the best one thanks to Trevorrow's brilliant touch and Chris Pratt's performance.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released on December 18, 2015; Star Wars: Episode VIII will be released on May 26, 2016; and Star Wars: Episode IX will be released sometime in 2019. The image above is from The Force Awakens, but I'm sure we'll see the same kind of First Order Stormtroopers in Trevorrow's film.
