Christoph Waltz's Blofeld Will Not Be In Bond 25

The last 007 movie, Spectre, introduced us to the original Dr. Evil in the form of Christoph Waltz's Ernst Stavro Blofeld who was said to have been pulling the strings against Bond since Casino Royale. With Daniel Craig close to his exit from the franchise, it looks like Blofeld won't be a part of the upcoming Bond 25.

When asked if he would be making a return to the franchise, Christoph Waltz told Talky Movie:

"I'm really sad, but that's the tradition, that there is a new…name. Sorry, but I would've liked to."

Spectre wasn't really the best received Bond film since Skyfall, and I'm curious as to the reasoning on why the producers would forgo having Blofeld appear when all they did for that movie was build him up to be the ultimate Bond villain. Sure we got to see Waltz's Blofeld blinded in Spectre, but we have yet to see him in his iconic suit, bald and stroking a cat.

If anything, some people think that Waltz is lying about his involvement, which I also hope he is. I think that he's a fantastic actor, and it would be a waste to cut him off after just one movie. Then again, if Craig is exiting the Bond role, the studio may be looking to recast just about everyone.

Bond 25 is set for a release on Nov. 8, 2019.
