Chris Hemsworth Gives The Real Reason Behind Thor’s Eyepatch In Avengers: Infinity War Trailer

Marvel fans were a bit surprised when they saw Thor (Chris Hemsworth) with a badass eye patch in the final scene of Marvel Studios very first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War.

Sure, the Asgardian God of Thunder might have lost an eye when he battled with his sister Hela in Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok, however the exact same Infinity War shot showed Thor with both his eyes intact in a preview played at last year's San Diego Comic-Con and Disney's D23.

While some assumed that Marvel kept the eye patch a secret to avoid spoiling Ragnarok, Hemsworth tells Cinema Blend that the real reason behind the conundrum was because the costume piece just wouldn't stick on properly.

"It was... yeah, I remembered being... with the eyepatch, the story unrolling, 'Yeah, cool, this is interesting.' And then the day that we put the eyepatch on I was like, 'This is ridiculous,'" Hemsworth explained. "The thing kept falling off, and we didn't have the thing [gestures an eyepatch strap]. So it became a CG eyepatch, which I was stoked about... But I'm happy with that trade [for the wig]. It has its downsides. But the upside is that it's an hour less in hair and makeup without the wig on."

Guess it must have been hard for the Marvel star to do his stunts with the patch on. However, it's a bit surprising that the team didn't have the right adhesive for the patch.

Avengers: Infinity War hits cinemas May 4, 2018.
