Chris Hemsworth Credits Kevin Smith For Massive Changes In Thor: Ragnarok

Thor: Ragnarok has finally hit theaters, with critics and fans praising the film for its sense of humor and the way it has reinvigorated the Thor series. It's no secret that the previous films in the series weren't as popular as the other Marvel films, which is why Ragnarok was allowed to change so much of what fans found familiar. Interestingly enough, Chris Hemsworth credits Kevin Smith for some of the changes.

During an interview with Vanity Fair, Hemsworth revealed that he decided to change things up for the character after hearing Smith bash the other Thor films in a podcast. "Hearing someone like Smith, who represents the fanboy world, was such a kick in the ass to change gears," Hemsworth says. The actor revealed that the criticism allowed him to speak his mind to Feige about changing things up for the God of Thunder.

In addition to being an acclaimed director, Smith is a world-renowned comic book fan. He's directed episodes of The Flash and Supergirl for the CW Network. Smith even wrote a few comic books, most notably the Marvel Knights relaunch of Daredevil. Basically, Smith has plenty of fanboy credibility and it's kind of cool seeing Hemsworth react to the director's podcast.

Thor: Ragnarok is showing in theaters now.
