Chris Evans Explains How MCU Exit Made It Easy To Work With Rian Johnson

He might no longer be Captain America but there is little doubt that Chris Evans looks back fondly on his lengthy stint in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Interestingly, the Avengers: Endgame star has somehow confirmed that his exit from the MCU made it easier for him to work on his new film with Rian Johnson.

Evans recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about working on Knives Out and how it was different from the Marvel Studios movies. The Red Sea Diving Resort actor confirmed that it wasn't much of a stretch at all except that his new character isn't as nice as Steve Rogers.

"It is kind of a group mentality, so you're still kind of collaborating with a lot of people, and it is kind of, strangely enough, a similar family dynamic," Evans said. "A different character — in the Marvel movies I play a guy who's a little more taciturn, a little more selfless — and in this movie, I play a guy that's a little more vile."

We don't know much about Evans' new character in Knives Out but Ransom Drysdale-Thrombey is one of the suspects in a murder mystery so we'll take Evans' word for it. Additionally, he confirmed that although the film is very different from his MCU projects, "it was just as fun" to work on the black comedy.

"Everyone on this set, everyone's just here to have a good time and everyone loves what they do. It's a real blessing," Evans said.

It's still unclear if Evans will ever reprise his role as Captain America but we're looking forward to his new projects in the future.

Knives Out will premiere on November 27.
