The year 2017 saw the release of Alien: Covenant and with the film getting mixed reviews, we haven't gotten any updates on a follow-up. While it may come as a bummer for Alien fans, IGN is going to premiere a new digital series based on the hit game Alien: Isolation.
This is the description:
It's been fifteen years since Amanda Ripley's mother disappeared aboard the deep space towing ship Nostromo. And for fifteen years, Amanda has suspected there was more to her mother's story than meets the eye.
The series is said to run for seven episodes and will take cutscenes from the original game and add some specific story beats to them. I mean, it's not a Pixar film, but it looks decent enough for an animated series. I'm sure people who've played the game and people who are completely clueless about the story will still be able to enjoy the show.
With no Alien sequel in sight, I guess this is the only thing fans can check out for now. Personally, I would have preferred that Ridley Scott pushed through with his story for Prometheus, but I guess there's no escaping the hole he's dug himself in with Covenant. Maybe in a few years, they'll actually greenlight that sequel that Neill Blomkamp was working on. Do you think Sigourney Weaver would still be up for it?
Catch Alien: Isolation on IGN.com or IGN Youtube when it comes out Feb. 28.
