As with the first two episodes, Chainsaw Man Episode 3 once again delighted fans thanks to its impressive fight animation. But fight scenes aside, some Chainsaw Man fans were also treated to a 12-second Makima scene which shows that MAPPA knows exactly what they’re doing.

If you look at discussions online, there are two main topics of note. The first is the praise that fans are giving the fight between Denji and the Bat Devil. Another is a scene featuring Makima from an interesting angle.

To start with, many fans online expressed how happy they were with the epic fight animation between Denji and the Bat Devil. It seems the praise is more pronounced considering that the previous episode wasn’t heavy on the action.

More specifically, fans praised how Denji looked and moved in his Chainsaw form. Many also commented on how fluid the combination of the 3D and 2D animation looked.

Though aside from the fight scene, there were also many who talked about the detailed facial animations for the characters, as well as the detailed backgrounds.

Much like in Episode 1 though, there were still some complaints about the CGI used in the Bat Devil fight. But for the most part, the reception to the episode was positive in terms of animation.

While the fight scene in the episode was one of the main highlights, a special Makima scene also caught the eye of many fans online.

Chainsaw Man Episode 3 – Makima’s Scene

This specific scene happens early into the episode, and it sees Denji and Power bickering after being reprimanded by Makima.

Instead of showing the two clearly, they are relegated to the background while the scene shows off Makima’s backside.

The scene goes on for 12 seconds, leading many fans to share their thoughts online about how MAPPA knew exactly what they were doing.

If you’re a new Chainsaw Man fan and are unfamiliar with why this is significant, Makima’s butt has long been a meme in the fanbase.

There were even complaints about the anime “nerfing” her backside compared to her manga appearance.

Given that the scene was 12 seconds long, there’s little doubt that MAPPA intended to do this. And because series creator Tatsuki Fujimoto is heavily involved in the anime, it’s highly likely that he approved of this as well.

You’ll get to see more of Makima in the next Chainsaw Man episodes which air every week on Crunchyroll in the US and other regions.
