Catwoman Gets Post-Wedding Solo Series in July

When DC announced their initial Rebirth lineup, fans were surprised at Catwoman not having an ongoing title. She was always one of Batman's most popular love interests and is an interesting character in her own right, dishing out her own form of justice to the rich while making a profit. It seems like DC has rectified this since the character will now be receiving an ongoing title this July.

Interestingly enough, the new title will take place post-wedding, so it's not yet clear if Batman and Catwoman's marital bliss will go uninterrupted. Thankfully, the conclusion to the wedding arc in Batman #50 will also be out in July, so fans won't have to wait too long to know if they will get to tie the knot.

The new Catwoman series will be written and drawn by Joelle Jones, who famously drew the arc where fans thought that Bruce would cheat on Selena with Wonder Woman. That thankfully didn't happen, though their marriage is far from safe since Joker will be lurking about. It's worth noting that the solicitations do call her the bat-bride, implying that the wedding was a success but we will have to wait and see.

Here is the full solicitation (via Newsarama):

"The wedding night's barely over, but Catwoman's back on the streets, this time to expose a copycat who's pulling heists around Gotham City. As Selina cracks the whip on her former criminal cohorts, she's attracting unwanted attention from one of Gotham's most dangerous groups. The mob? Nope. Try the GCPD. And as if the Bat-Bride didn't have enough problems, don't miss the debut of an all-new villain determined to make trouble for all nine of Selina's lives. Don't miss the start of an all-new monthly series written and illustrated by Eisner Award-nominee Joëlle Jones!"

Catwoman #1 comes out on July 4. Will it reveal a happy ending for the super-couple? We can only hope.
