Cat Grant Will Be Returning to Supergirl as a Recurring Guest Star

Calista Flockhart's Cat Grant will be in Supergirl season 2, but her role will no longer be a regular one, reports Deadline. Supergirl has moved to Vancouver and as a result, Cat Grant has moved to "recurring guest star" status. Supergirl was previously filmed in Los Angeles, where Flockhart lives, so the change of location is likely responsible for her reduced role.

Flockhart is known for her role on Ally McBeal and her performance as Cat Grant was one of the most critically praised parts of Supergirl. Reportedly, the studio has agreed to fly Flockhart to Vancouver every few weeks, where she will film several episodes worth of material. The Deadline insider claims she is still being paid like a series regular. She is supposed to fly over to Vancouver tomorrow and start production with Supergirl next week.

The show's executive producer, Andrew Kriesberg said, "Supergirl wouldn't be Supergirl without the amazing Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant. We are so excited Calista has agreed to continue on the show when she can. We and the audience love to see her on screen."

The move in Supergirl's filming locaion was down to Supergirl switching networks, going from CBS to the CW. The first episode of the second season is set to premiere Monday, October 10 at 8 PM.

It's too bad Cat Grant's role will be reduced, but I'm glad she'll continue to be on the show. She was definitely a highlight of the show. What do you think of the news?
