Castlevania's Adi Shankar Wants To Make A Dark Metroid Series

Netflix just released their first season of Castlevania, and a lot of people are already giving it good reviews. The show has reportedly been greenlit for a second season, but showrunner Adi Shankar is already thinking about adapting more video games into series.

Speaking to Nintendo Life, Shankar has expressed his interest in making a Metroid series. He simply said:

"Dark Metroid in the same anime style."

Some fans actually consider Metroid to simply be Castlevania-in-space since both games are platformers and heroes have to go from dungeon to dungeon fighting crazy gigantic monsters. I don't know how that would translate into story, but Shankar probably has a good idea on where he wants to take it.

Besides Metroid, Shankar has also expressed his interest in making an Assassin's Creed series. With the Michael Fassbender movie not doing so well, I think fans would be more welcome to watching a series where characters can get better fleshed out and there is a natural sense of progress—just like a video game.

With Shankar focusing on Castlevania for now, it might be a while before we can see a Metroid series. Then again, Nintendo is planning to release a fourth Metroid Prime game, so a series would be the perfect form of cross promotion.
