Casting For The Punisher Season 2 Might Tease An Arc Leading To Frank’s Replacement

It looks like the second season of The Punisher might follow the "Suicide Run" arc of The Punisher War Journal and The Punisher War Zone.

Casting details from That Hashtag Show reveal that Marvel TV is looking for a group to play a handful of small-town cops in the second season of The Punisher.

Here are the police roles that the studio's looking for:

[Sheriff Bonnen] an authoritative male in his early 40s.

[Deputy Willis] a female, 33-37, who is a good cop but looks out for #1 above all else.

[Deputy Creamer] a 25-28 year old male who is described as optimistic and professional.

[Bob] a male in his early 50s who works at the desk at the sheriff office

To Marvel comic book readers, this might mean that the popular Marvel Netflix might actually follow the lines of the "Suicide Run" arc in The Punisher comics. In the arc Frank is presumed dead after taking out some of New York City's worst criminals by bombing a skyscraper. Frank ends up in the small town of Laastekis, Pennsylvanie, nursed back to health by Amy. That is until her father, the Sheriff of Laastekis, finds him in her treehouse. The Sheriff decides to call in the FBI and give away Frank's location, leading several factions to arrive in Laastekis looking for The Punisher.

Though that seems pretty standard for The Punisher, "The Suicide Run" arc also leads into a series of stories where other characters like Lynn Michaels and Jimmy Pierce take up Frank's mantle as The Punisher. That segment might be an interesting direction for Netflix to take, well, if it really does follow "The Sucide Run" arc.

The Punisher season 1 is available on Netflix.
