Cast Your Vote in HBO’s Game of Thrones Election on Who Will Lead the Wars to Come

How do you continue the Game of Thrones spirit and also throw in some electoral spirit in the process?

HBO has created a new site, the GOT Party site, which calls on Game of Thrones fans to pit their favorites against each other in its own brand of election. There are already 19,105,590 fans who have filed their votes as of writing.

"From the Reach to the Stormlands, the Wall to the Arbor—we, the GOT, demand new choices in leadership. The candidates have called their banners. Cast your vote to pick your side in the great wars to come."

There's even a platform for each of the candidates. Don't worry, for those who still haven't caught up with the latest season, there are no spoilers in the platforms.

There are four candidates in the Game of Thrones party elections, namely Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, Cersei Lannister, and (surprise) Petyr Baelish. Their running mates are Tyrion Lannister, Lyanna Mormont, Qyburn, and Sansa Stark. I'm sure you know which running mate is matched with whom.

Currently, Jon has the lead at 51%, followed by Dany at 33%. Littlefinger is behind at 14%, though not as bad as Cersei's barely 3% vote. That surprise death probably turned everyone against her—yes, maybe even those who are interested to see the wicked ones remain in power.

I think that Jon's lead may be due to Lyanna being his running mate. When she gave that speech, I think everyone in the North listened, so why shouldn't we? But that last scene still got me more, what with Dany's fleet and Tyrion's winning gesture, so I'm partial to the Breaker of Chains party for now.

The election countdown still has 29 days to the timer, so make sure you let your voice be heard. If you're invested in this, you can actually check out the site again on Sept 1., where HB will reveal the official Party nominee and running mate.

For the most part, the site is bent on spreading #GOT2016 like Wildfire. There are even ways to show your pledges to the show, either by re-watching past seasons via different channels, buying or creating your own party shirts, or just sharing your favorite candidate socially.

If you're not convinced, check out the #GOT2016 trailer above. Let the Games begin!
