Cast and Visual for New Fairy Tail Anime Movie Revealed

Both the visual and cast description for the upcoming Fairy Tail movie have been released, Comic Bookreports. Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine also reported Japanese release date for the movie is May 6th of this year. The official title for the movie is Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry.

You can see the new visual below:

The visual shows the character Natsu in a half-human, half-dragon state. The translated tagline reads "That power...is it hope or destruction?" Kodansha also revealed that the original cast of the Fairy Tail anime will return from the movie with some cool new outfits.

But new cast members will also hop on for the movie. The movie's original characters include Sonia (a young woman), Animus (a kingly-looking man) and Zash (a man who looks sinister and powerful). Fairy Tail's original creator, Hiro Mashima, designed the new characters.

Mashima was also heavily involved in the production of the movie. He's reponsible for the new visual and its tagline and over 200 storyboard pages for the film. The film is directed by Tatsuma Minamikawa (Attack on Titan, The Naruto Shippuden Movie) and produced by A-1 pictures.

Anime spin-off movies tend to be forgettable, but it really looks like some stuff might go down in this one. The involvement of the original manga creator is also promising. What do you think?
