Carrie Fisher's Books Sell Out, Reprints Ordered

In the wake of Carrie Fisher's passing, her books have gotten a major sales boost, The EWreports. After her death on December 27, her books rocketed to the top of Amazon's best sellers list and began selling out of bookstores. Now publishers Simon and Schuster have confirmed they are working on reprinting her work.

We are responding to the outpouring of interest in Carrie Fisher's work and are quickly reprinting her books," said President Jonathan Karp. "All of them have remained in print, but our supply was wiped out by demand. We'll have more books this week."

According to the company, they have sold over 500,000 of Carrie Fisher's books in the wake of her long career as an author. They report they've now ordered 50,000 more copies of her various books.

They have ordered 20,000 copies of her autobiographical Broadway-show-turned-novel Wishful Drinking. 20,000 copies of her novel Postcards from the Edge have been ordered as well. The novel tells the story of an actress pulling her life after a drug overdose and was adapted into a movie starring Meryl Streep. 2,500 copies of its sequel, The Best Awful There Is, have also been ordered. Additionally, they've ordered 10,000 copies of her memoir Shockaholic.

Carrie's books include candid explorations of her struggles with drug addiction and mental illness. They also chronicle some of her experiences acting as Princess Leia in Star Wars.

It's a sad fact that people's work gets recognized more after they die, but hopefully this means more people are learning about what an amazing woman Carrie Fisher was. We should be proud of her legacy. Feel free to leave words of tribute in the comments.
