Carrie Fisher Slapped Oscar Isaac 27 Times In Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Oscar Isaac may have spent a lot of time shooting scenes with the late Carrie Fisher in the upcoming sequel trilogy installment, The Last Jedi, however it seems like a lot of that time has been spent getting slapped by the Star Wars legend.

Talking about the time he spent on the set Force Awakens sequel in an interview with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Isaac remembers how "a large amount of the stuff that I got to do was with Carrie, which was amazing."

However, while he did love his time with Carrie, his first day with her was spent on a scene where General Organa/ Princess Liea was so upset with his character, Poe Dameron, the Resistance's ace pilot got a nice big slap. Because it was the first day and the production was still trying to find the tone of the scene, The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson had the shot redone 27 times.

"…Rian kept doing it over, and over. Rian Johnson, the director, yeah. It ended up being 27 takes of Carrie just leaning in and every time she just kept hitting different parts of my face."

Despite all the slapping, Isaacs really admired Carrie, saying that she was "by far the most quick-witted, down-to-earth, real human being I've ever had the pleasure to work with and she does amazing work. Yeah, it was definitely a heartbreaker."

While it's unsure at what point fans will get to see Poe interact with Leia in The Last Jedi, we certainly know that we'll enjoy every moment we have seeing Carrie on the big screen for the very last time this December.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits cinemas on December 15, 2017.
