Marvel hasn't let us down when it comes to introducing new yet interesting characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Granted, it still begs the question of how they'll present all of them in Avengers: Infinity War—but if Captain America: Civil War is anything to go by, we may be looking at quite the promising start.
From the looks of it, the new movie, Captain Marvel, will follow in the footsteps of Captain America, Iron Man, and Ant-Man, all of whom have told the origin stories of these heroes.
Speaking to Cinema Blend, Marvel's Kevin Feige revealed that apart from Doctor Strange, another movie for the MCU that will deal with origin stories is Captain Marvel.
"[Black] Panther is not really an origin story, since we saw him already in Civil War. But his standalone certainly introduces you to 99% of his word you never saw. And Captain Marvel is certainly an origin. It's an origin story from the start."
This is a good move even if the MCU Grand Plan is already on phase three. With Captain Marvel expected sometime in 2019, I guess you could say that it's refreshing to still see an origin story at this point in the game. If anything, her dynamics with the other members of the Avengers will be an interesting entry point as a newbie and newly-powered superhero.
As far as Black Panther is concerned, that little reveal does show how tight Marvel seems to be filtering its stories in. I know Black Panther does need his own movie, if only because we may see a continuation of what will happen to the Winter Soldier while in hiding in Wakanda.
And that sneak peek of the Wakanda territory at the last part of Captain America: Civil War did put on the edge of our seats for more.
MCU will further progress this Oct. 26 with the premiere of Doctor Strange. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will come in May 5, 2017 and Thor: Ragnarok on Nov. 3, 2017.
