Captain Marvel might not have earned as much as Avengers: Infinity War or Avengers: Endgame, but it looks like Brie Larson's first standalone movie as Carol Danvers has managed to become one of the most valuable blockbuster movies of 2019.

Using data from seasoned analysts, Deadline has been listing down the most commercially successful films of 2019, and it looks like Captain Marvel's made it to top 5 of the list.

According to the entertainment news outlet, the film did pretty well during its theatrical release, raking in a global box office of $1.128 billion. The film was fairly profitable for Marvel. The global revenues ran up to $505 million (45% of the global box office result) with the home entertainment profit coming up to $156 million and television revenues up to $204 million.

There are a lot of reasons Captain Marvel did well during its theatrical release. Not only was the film being touted as Marvel's first-ever female-led comic book movie, but Disney sold the movie as a bridge between Avengers: Infinity War which was released in 2018 and Avengers: Endgame 25 which premiered right after Captain Marvel.

Fans were excited to see Carol Danvers – Marvel called the Captain Marvel the greatest Avenger, a character that could potentially save the world from Thanos (Josh Brolin).

Of course, Captain Marvel had its struggles. Before its release, the film suffered from Alt-right Marvel fans negative-review bombing on review aggregate sites like Rotten Tomatoes. It's good to see that the film managed to win despite the fact that it was worn down by traditional Marvel fanboys.
