Captain Marvel Post-Credits Sequence Originally Had a Thor: Ragnarok Reference

Captain Marvel wasn't the best film from Marvel Studios but it was entertaining enough and did set up the character's appearance in Avengers: Endgame. Like most Marvel movies, it has two post-credit scenes and though the first one was solid, being a tie-in to Endgame, the second was a bad joke that just had Goose spitting out the Tesseract. It turns out that the directors had a more interesting idea in mind and it would have made Thor: Ragnarok fans happy.

Speaking with Digital Spy, directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck confirmed that they had plans to connect the film with Thor: Ragnarok. Apparently, they wanted Carol to send Yon-Rogg to the planet Sakaar where he would have either been cannibalized or forced to fight for The Grandmaster. It seems that plan wasn't approved and we can all assume that Marvel has more plans for the villain.

"We toyed with different ideas of where she might send him off at the end, and one time we joked that maybe she sent him off and he ended up in Sakaar much like Thor: Ragnarok. We see his ship opening up in that junkyard and we know what's coming for him."

This would have been better than the lame scene with Goose but, once again, it seems like Marvel has more plans for Yon-Rogg and The Kree. Plus, Jude Law is a beloved actor and some fans would probably watch a Captain Marvel sequel if he was in it again. We'll have to wait and see if this is true but seeing the Kree/Skrull War in movie form would be awesome.

Captain Marvel is now available on digital services, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
