Captain Marvel Has Some Awesome Classic Costume Easter Eggs

Captain Marvel is finally here and the film is filled with some awesome tributes and Easter Eggs. Did you spot the references to the superhero's classic costumes?

Spoilers Ahead! You Have Been Warned!

After realizing that she has been deceived by Yon-Rogg, Carol Danvers finally decides that she can no longer where the Kree colors. She then enlists the young Monica Rambeau to help her pick out the new colors she should wear. Monica obliges and somehow her choices seem to pay tribute to Captain Marvel's classic comic book costumes.

At one point, Monica opts for a green-and-grey combo that's a clear reference to Mar-Vell. It's similar to the Kree colors but the green is brighter, just like Mar-Vell's look from the 1960s.

Another combination pays homage to Miss Marvel and her red-black-and-gold colors. Needless to say, it's probably the most popular costume and it's not because of the sash, either.

Unfortunately, there was no reference to Carol's Warbird black-and-silver costume. Nevertheless, we're quite happy with the tributes Monica came up with.

The references to the classic costumes may have been awesome but Captain Marvel opened with perhaps the most heartwarming tribute ever. The Marvel Studios intro, which is usually filled with superheroes, had been swapped out with some of Stan Lee's best images. It also ends with a truly touching message: "Thank you, Stan."

Haven't seen Captain Marvel yet? The new MCU flick is currently screening in theaters worldwide.
