Captain Marvel: Brie Larson Calls The Character ‘Really Funny’

We don't really know much about Marvel Studios' Captain Marvel, other than the fact that it will be Marvel's first solo movie based on a female hero, and that Brie Larson has been cast in the role. Larson has actually opened up about the character, and has given us an idea about what to expect from the film.

In an interview with SciFiNow (via Reddit), Larson explains:

"She's a believer in truth and justice and she is a bridge between two worlds, Earth and space. She's fighting between the flaws that are within her and all this good she wants to try and spread and make the world a better place. She can also fly and shoot things out of her hands. And she's really funny!"

Of course, being "funny" is a necessary staple with these Marvel heroes. Out of all the characters that have had their solo films, I think only Captain America is the only one who is pretty serious. I mean, sure Thor is also a serious character, but his cluelessness is always a subject for laughs in Marvel movies.

Hopefully Marvel knocks it out of the park with Captain Marvel. After 10 years of movies, you think that they would have released a female-centric film earlier. DC may be losing the battle of best comic book universe, but they do have an upper hand when it comes to women being represented in the genre.

Captain Marvel comes out on March 8, 2019.
