Capcom Announces Mega Man 11, Along With Mega Man X Collection

It's an early holiday miracle, as Capcom has announced the long-awaited Mega Man 11 during the 30th-anniversary stream celebrating the Blue Bomber. As if that wasn't enough, Capcom will also be re-releasing all eight Mega Man X games soon, most likely in a Legacy Collection like the classic Mega Man games. Both 11 and the X collection will be coming out next year.

Capcom released a short gameplay trailer for Mega Man 11 and it looks great. The updated visuals are a nice touch and it's great seeing classic features like the Rush Coil return. That being said, Mega Man's walking animation is a bit off and his voice is surprisingly deep, which might have been done to address his feminine voice from Mega Man 8. Still, since the game is coming out in late 2018, there is plenty of time to fix these hiccups, or at the least, get used to them.

Having all eight Mega Man X games is also a treat to those that prefer the more mature version of the character. Fans love the first four X games, despite the fourth game's awful voice acting, while the fifth and sixth games received mixed receptions. Many consider X7 to be the worst of the bunch, with some forced 3-D elements and some questionable voice acting that's as bad as X4's. As for X8, many consider this to be an underrated title in the series since it did improve a lot from X7.

We haven't seen a new Mega Man game in years, with his last "official" appearance being as a guest character in Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS. This is why fans were pinning their hopes on successors like Mighty No. 9 and Azure Striker, the former of which was a huge disappointment.

Mega Man 11 comes out in late 2018 on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The Mega Man X collection will be released in summer 2018 on the same systems as 11.
