Even Star Wars actors have their favorite characters from Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away. Though C-3PO star Anthony Daniels might not like Jar Jar Binks for one little bit, the English star and mime has nothing but praise for the performance of prequel trilogy actor Ahmed Best.
Speaking at this year's Fan Expo (via the Daily Express), Daniels opened up about how he felt for Best and for Jar Jar Binks, one of the most hated characters in the Star Wars franchise.
"Jar Jar was created by George Lucas and he employed an actor, Ahmed Best, who is a terrific actor. Terrific mover. Terrific, inventive brain. Highly intelligent. Did exactly what George asked him to do. George's son Jett was thrilled by that performance that Ahmed did perfectly, but Jett was 10 years old."
However, while most fans growing up watching the prequel trilogy loved Jar Jar, Daniels barely felt the same way.
"Now, I wasn't, so for me Jar Jar was a bit like the Ewoks. I've grown past that stage. 10-year-olds, 11-year-olds, eight-year-olds adored Jar Jar. It was a very, very good thing to do… so I hugely admire Ahmed Best. He got very bad press for doing it… and Jar Jar was not for me."
It's no surprise that Daniels hates the loud and clumsy Gungan – almost everyone does. Though it's unlikely that we'll be seeing Jar Jar again, fans are still tearing Jar Jar apart, making fun of the character through memes and silly theories (like the one where Supreme Leader Snoke might actually be Jar Jar).
Luckily, it's unlikely that Jar Jar will be appearing in the next Star Wars film.
