C-3PO Gets Another Update Before Star Wars: The Last Jedi

C-3PO, the whiny British-accented half of the comedic droid duo of the Star Wars franchise received a surprising change when he made his way to the first film in the franchise's sequel trilogy, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Though usually golden all over, C-3PO appeared in the film with a red arm – a big change to the droid's design.

Now, it seems like Lucasfilm has added another new update to C-3PO. During the droid's very first appearance in the big screen, C-3PO confidently boasted that as a protocol droid he was "fluent in over 6 million forms of communication." It's something that he's pretty proud of, because after saying it in New Hope he reminds everyone of the fact in Return of the Jedi. As the franchise continues the sequel trilogy Lucasfilm reveals that his communication knowledge has increased by 15% with a million forms of communication added to his program.

It may sound nothing more than a Tweet to signify how much the Galaxy has expanded over the course of time, it also opens up different possibilities for C-3PO. The added three million languages might include computer programming, non-verbal forms of communication, maybe even telepathic? Alright that might be a stretch, but it's really interesting to see how much the original Star Wars characters have grown over time.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi debuts on the big screen on Dec. 15, 2017.
