Bright Sequel: Will Smith, Joel Edgerton, and David Ayer are Returning

Now that the Bright sequel has been confirmed, fans of the polarizing film will be happy to know that Will Smith and his co-star Joel Edgerton will be a part of the sequel. The two actors will now continue to traverse this fictional version of Los Angeles with Tolkien-esque creatures that are a part of everyday life. Fans will also be happy to know that director David Ayer will be returning as well.

Confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, all three names were a big draw for audiences, so it was wise of Netflix to keep them for the sequel. Ayer will not just direct the film but will also write it, replacing Max Landis for obvious reasons. The film's script did receive a mixed reception from critics, so it will be interesting to see how Ayer does writing the sequel.

Details on the sequel have yet to be announced, despite officially being confirmed. Bright might have been destroyed by critics but audiences seem to love the film. It's been confirmed that the film is currently number one on Netflix for 190 countries, so that's saying something. With all of those viewers in mind, it's easy to see why a sequel has been greenlit.

Bright can now be viewed on Netflix.
