Brie Larson Took Captain Marvel Role Not To Become A Hero, But A Person

Marvel fans were really excited when Marvel Studios announced that Academy Award-winning actress Brie Larson would be brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain Marvel. Carol Danvers became one of the most powerful heroes in Marvel's comic universe, and everyone was excited to see Larson become the new photon-blasting hero on the big screen.

However, according to the actress, the main reason why she joined the MCU wasn't to become a hero but to play a person instead. Speaking with fans at the recent Toronto Film Festival, Larson decided to open up about the reason why she decided to become Captain Marvel.

"I just see people, and I just play people. I didn't play Captain Marvel because I wanted to be a hero, I just wanted to be a person. That was a big platform to play a person," Brie Larson said. "In a world right now we get very hard on people who grow and change, to be able to play characters who evolve and to be around real human beings that are growing and evolving, that to me is real bravery and strength and courage."

It sounds like a pretty earnest answer, and while we didn't get to see much of Carol Danvers in Avengers: Endgame, we're excited to see more of the cosmic superhero in Phase 5 of the MCU. Sure, Captain Marvel 2 might not be scheduled for Phase 4 of the franchise, but we're pretty certain Marvel won't let go of a film series as powerful as Captain Marvel.

There have also been rumors saying that Larson could star in an all-female Marvel superhero movie, so there's that too.

Avengers: Endgame is available on Digital HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
