'Breaking Bad' Alum Aaron Paul Reportedly Joins 'The Dark Tower' Cast

Back in Fall 2012, Breaking Bad alum Aaron Paul tweeted he wanted to play Eddie Dean in the movies based on Stephen King's The Dark Tower series, and when Quint at AICN interviewed Paul in 2014, he said he had "a ton of meetings" on it, and a talk with then-director Ron Howard.

A lot of things has changed since then. The film is now under Sony Pictures, and it's being directed by Nikolas Arcel (The Royal Affair). Last week, it was announced that Idris Elba was cast to play the gunslinger and Matthew McConaughey as the mystical villain known as the man in black.

Now, Blastr is reporting that Aaron Paul has been cast in the film. According to the site, the information came from someone inside the production and that they can confirm it, but no official statement has been made so take this as a rumor for now. It would be awesome if Paul actually joins the cast though. He fits the character of Eddie Dean, who's introduced in the second book of the series,The Drawing of the Three. Eddie Dean is a smart drug addict living in New York and was drawn to the world of The Dark Tower where he joins Roland on his quest to the Tower.

Aaron Paul posted his reactions to the rumor on Twitter:

It was announced that the film will start in the middle of the story, and that the film will take place in our modern world. They're planning to make three films and a TV series that would connect them all together, and the first The Dark Tower film is set to release on Jan. 13, 2017.
