Boba Fett Spinoff Movie Reportedly Continues Development With New Working Title

It looks like Lucasfilm is still trying to work on a Boba Fett standalone.

Back in 2015, the studio tried to tap Fantastic Four director Josh Trank for its Boba Fett spin-off, however, the filmmaker left the project before it could really get on its feet, and the film was put back on the shelf while Lucasfilm concentrated on other projects.

This summer the studio announced that it was working on an Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone, and along with it came the side report that Lucasfilm was still interested in working on the Boba Fett film. Now, according to Omega Underground, the studio is gearing up to work on the spinoff, giving the project the working title, "Tin Can." Oddly enough, the name is the same one the studio used years ago when Trank was still attached to developing the film. Could the working title hold any significant meaning to the project and the director that Lucasfilm's planning to hire for the film? We'll probably have to wait for the studio to make an official announcement.

For the time being, it seems like Lucasfilm's doing its best to ramp up its spinoff series, developing its Obi-Wan Kenobi movie and the standalone for Boba Fett. The studio certainly has a lot planned for the Star Wars franchise with its spinoff and its new trilogy.

Lucasfilm's next Star Wars movie, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, premieres this Friday, December 15, 2017.
