Blizzard Officially Announces Exciting Overwatch 2 With New Features

Overwatch might have enjoyed phenomenal success as a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter, but now it looks like Blizzard Entertainment is ready to develop the video game's sequel.

Blizzard decided to officially announce Overwatch 2 during the BlizzCon 2019 this week (via Polygon), and it looks like fans are going to be getting a few fan-favorite characters in the videogame sequel. While the new game is going to keep all of the original Overwatch's heroes, maps, and modes, it will also feature "a ton of PvE content" which includes "a complete story" experience for gamers who're into the narratives of videogames.

Story missions will give players the ability to take on the roles of Overwatch team members in various four-player cooperative missions against Omnic forces and "rising new threats around the globe. There will also be Hero missions that offer a co-op experience that allows players to level up characters and earn customizations that provide powerful new abilities.

Overwatch 2 will also include a new 6v6 PvP mode called Push where two teams race to make a robot push the map's objective onto their opponents. Push is going to be made available in Overwatch 2's Casual and Competitive movies. It's also going to be played in the Overwatch league.

"When Null Sector attacks, Winston assembles a small strike team to fend off the invasion. But as hope begins to fade, the team must stand together to overcome the odds," Blizzard said about the game.

Overwatch 2 has yet to receive a release date but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
