Black Widow Solo Film Moves Forward; Writer To Meet Up With Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow has been with the MCU since 2010, but as of now we still have no Black Widow solo movie. After the success of Wonder Woman proved that a female-lead superhero film could work, news has it that Marvel is starting their development on the Black Widow film.

According to Variety's Justin Kroll, Jac Schaeffer, who has been hired to write the movie, could be meeting up with Johansson soon:

Seeing that Black Widow has been kicking ass alongside the Avengers for eight years already, I'm wondering what a solo movie could look like with her as the lead. I mean, sure I like the character, but I think a film about a very competent female super spy has already been done in Hollywood dozens of times. How is Black Widow going to set itself apart from the likes of Atomic Blonde, Salt, Lucy, Ghost in the Shell, or Colombiana?

Some speculate that this is going to be a female-ensemble action movie, but that would be totally up to whatever Schaeffer and Johansson decide. Just having Johansson onboard could be a box office draw enough, but I would like a pitch for the movie with a little more bit.

You think a Secret Invasion film could work?

No release date has been announced for the Black Widow solo film.
