Black Widow Movie May Introduce The MCU’s Very First Official Mutant

Though it might seem a little bit too soon for Marvel to introduce the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are theories suggesting that the studio could very well introduce the franchise's first official mutant in Black Widow.

Marvel has yet to confirm any other heroes outside Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova, David Harbour's Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz' Melina, however, Screen Rant speculates that there might be one more hero that the studio has been hiding.

According to the entertainment news outlet, Marvel may very well introduce the MCU's first mutant in Black Widow by bringing in a Russian superhero named Ursa Major. The character serves as a member of the Russian superteam the Winter Guard right alongside the Red Guardian. A Strong-man, Ursa Major has the ability to transform into a giant, anthropomorphic bear, retaining his intelligence and memories while he does so. Ursa Major is pretty strong and resistance to injury. At some point he's been able to go on a one-on-one fight with the Hulk and stay on top of his game.

Marvel may not have announced the mutant as part of Black Widow's ensemble, however, the world's tallest bodybuilder, Olivier Richters, otherwise known as the "Dutch Giant," went on social media revealing that he spent three weeks filming for an unknown role in the movie.

The "Dutch Giant" towers above everyone at 7ft and 2inches, so it's only natural for fans to tie the bodybuilder's Marvel role with his height.

Could Marvel really be turning Richters into Ursa Major? That would be pretty cool to see, though we can't really be sure till we get confirmation from Marvel itself.

Black Widow premieres May 1, 2020.
