Black Panther Is The Marvel Movie Bob Iger Is Proudest Of

Marvel Studios might have been able to release quite a number of commercially and critically successful movies over the past ten years, but Disney CEO Bob Iger has only one favorite Marvel movie, and that's Black Panther.

Iger just recently released The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned from 15 Years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company, a memoir recounting the work that he's done as the CEO of the Walt Disney Company (via ComicBook.com). Not only does Iger talk about how proud he is of everything that's been produced by Marvel, but he also reveals the film that he's the proudest of.

Black Panther delighted Iger, saying that his pride for the ground-breaking comic book movie even surpasses his pride for Disney's upcoming streaming service Disney+ as well as the theme park upgrades that have come to light during his tenure as Disney's CEO.

"There may be no product we've ever created that I'm more proud of than Black Panther," Iger wrote in his book.

The Disney bigwig also notes the struggle that he had to face to get Black Panther made, saying that there was a bit of internal dissent at Marvel before the film even began production. Despite these issues, Iger kept on pushing for the film, knowing that it had to be developed after reading a recent Black Panther comic.

According to Iger, he had received more positive feedback from T'Challa's very first standalone movie than any other film he's worked on – which isn't surprising considering the cultural significance of the movie.
