Aquaman is still undergoing pre-production and so far it has a pretty star-studded cast which includes Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Willem DaFoe, and Patrick Wilson. Though it's unclear on whether Wilson's character will automatically be the villain Ocean Master in the movie, actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been confirmed as classic Aquaman villain — Black Manta.

Abdul Mateen revealed this via Twitter as he replied to Baywatch co-star Dwayne Johnson's congratulatory tweet. Here's the post:

Though Ocean Master may be a villain in the comics, he actually starts out as Aquaman's half-brother Orm; it's possible that Abdul Mateen could be the primary antagonist of Aquaman, and the movie will sow the seeds of Orm's eventual fall to villainy.

As for Black Manta, he's more popularly known as the Aquaman villain who has a funky looking helmet that he shoots lasers from, but he actually has several different origins in the comics, one involving sexual abuse at sea, and another with him being an autistic boy in Arkham Asylum.

There's still no clue on exactly how James Wan plans to bring Black Manta to life in Aquaman, but this will be the character's first big-screen debut.

Aquaman will center on Aquaman as a reluctant ruler of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis who is caught between land dwellers that are always polluting the globe and his own people who are ready to invade the surface.

Aquaman is set to come out Dec. 21, 2018.
