Birds of Prey to Shoot Early 2019; Said to be Looking for All-Female Crew

It's been confirmed that Margot Robbie will be appearing as Harley Quinn once again in an all-woman Birds of Prey movie. Rumor had it that the movie was going to start shooting later this year, but it's confirmed that it will actually start earlier next year.

According to Heroic Hollywood, Birds of Prey is aiming to start production 2019. What's more, the movie is said to be looking to build a crew that will be all women as well.

Though I appreciate the attempt at having more women represented behind the scenes, I think it would be ridiculous to force an entire crew to be just women; at best, having women at the top of every department is doable. I think it would be counter-progressive to refuse people work on the film based on their gender.

With Wonder Woman being such a hit for the DCEU, it would make sense that WB would want to bank in more with their female superheroes. Harley Quinn was a fan favorite coming out of Suicide Squad. Add to that characters like Catwoman, Batgirl, and Poison Ivy, and you have a sure audience draw for Birds of Prey.

No release date has been announced for Birds of Prey, but with the early 2019 production date, we could be looking at a release sometime in 2020.
