Beyond Good and Evil Movie Coming From Netflix With Detective Pikachu Director Helming the Project

Beyond Good and Evil continues to be one of the most underrated games ever made and though Ubisoft is working on Beyond Good and Evil 2, very little news on the sequel has been revealed. That sting would hurt a bit less if the company would release the first game on Nintendo Switch but they seemed to know better than us, apparently, as a new movie is being worked on by Netflix.

Yes, we're getting a Beyond Good and Evil movie with Detective Pikachu director Rob Letterman helming the movie. Because if you've already made one good video game film, why not make two, right?

THR confirmed that Letterman would be directing his second video game adaptation, which is fine enough news. Gamers would prefer an update on Beyond Good and Evil 2 but if this movie gets people talking, that's also a positive. This will probably be a better movie than Detective Pikachu since it has a more compelling plot and characters they can copy from.

Ubisoft has been making headlines with Netflix recently, not just with the Beyond Good and Evil movie but also with the upcoming Splinter Cell anime. This isn't even the first time we've seen a Ubisoft game get the movie treatment since Prince of Persia and Assassin's Creed came to the big screen, though the former was mediocre while the latter was crap.

Will Ubisoft and Netflix's Beyond Good and Evil be a good movie? We can only hope for the best. Detective Pikachu and Sonic the Hedgehog have proven that you can make fun films based on video games so this movie needs to follow that example. No release date has been announced.
