Ben Affleck Talks Playing A Traditional Batman In Justice League; Teases Chemistry With The Flash

A lot of comic fans agree that Ben Affleck's portrayal of Batman is the closest one we have to the comics version, but there's only one difference—Batfleck outright murders criminals. With Justice League however, Affleck talks about playing a more traditional Batman, and hopefully fans will be more approving.

During a JL press conference in London (via ScreenRant), Affleck comments:

"Well, you raise an interesting point. Batman, who is by nature, not necessarily anti-social, but [pretty much] a loner, and in this movie he's thrust into the role of not only having to work with people but bring them together and convince them to come in and try to be some kind of gel with Wonder Woman to hold all of that community effort together and that was a really interesting thing to play for me, and it also does take us to a more traditional version of Batman in the Justice League comics and his role with the Justice League vs the less traditional version in Batman v Superman where he was blinded by rage and wanted to take on Superman."

Affleck also teases his back and forth with Ezra Miller, who plays one of the youngest members of the League, Barry Allen a.k.a. The Flash. He says:

"It was a lot of fun for me, I also got to have a kind of a dry wit, I got to play off Ezra [Miller], which was a lot of fun because he's so funny and Bruce is always on the verge of exasperation. It was fun to show some other colors for sure."

Though Bruce Wayne may have been the grumpiest hero in BvS, I can't wait for him to take on the leader role in Justice League. The same transition happened with the Kevin Conroy's animated Batman when Justice League Unlimited was introduced, and I think it's an interesting thing to see Batman still serious and brooding, but at the same time a natural leader who knows what's best for the team.

Batfleck returns when Justice League comes out Nov. 17.
