Batman Star Robert Pattinson Actually Had A Meeting With Marvel

It looks like Robert Pattinson's been getting a lot of buzz the past few months. Not only has he been included in conversations about the next Academy Awards thanks to his phenomenal performance in Rober Egger's black and white horror movie, The Lighthouse, but he's also been put in the spotlight recently thanks to his casting in Matt Reeve's The Batman.

While there's been excitement building up over his appearance as DC's new Dark Knight, the Twilight star reveals that he was actually close to starring in DC's rival franchise – the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Variety just recently interviewed Pattinson to talk about his upcoming film, and during the discussion, the actor revealed that he had actually met with Marvel Studios around the same time that the franchise released James Gunn's first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Unfortunately, it seems like there was never really a follow-up meeting after the first gathering.

"I don't know what I would really be chasing," Pattinson told the publication, "The idea of trying that transition after ‘Twilight,' I never saw a road in that direction."

The actor might not have really shown that much interest in Marvel, but it seems like it was different for The Batman. According to Pattinson, the Dark Knight was one of the only comic book heroes that he's been drawn to.

"It's actually an interesting part," Pattinson told the entertainment news outlet, "I think it's because he doesn't have any superpowers."

Guess Pattinson might not be a big fan of superheroes, though there could have been a few non-powered characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that the actor could have played like the Punisher and Daredevil (though Marvel stars would probably want Netflix's Punisher actor Jon Bernthal and Daredevil star Charlie Cox to take the role).

The Batman premieres on June 25, 2021.
