Batman Original Script Included More Villains

All hell almost broke loose when Ben Affleck announced that he was stepping down as the director for the solo movie of Batman. While there are varying reasons for this—a resounding one being that the script may not even be good enough for him to direct, as per one of his statements—what we can be assured of is that a new direction may be in store for the movie.

A new report from Forbes collated statements from sources confirming a few of the things that were seen in the script. For starters, here should have been a lot of villains included.

Apart from Joe Manganiello, who has already cast to play Deathstroke, Suicide Squad's Joker was also included to have an appearance. There were other villains hinted to join the fray, though no other names have been dropped except the two main ones.

Having a lot of villains in the first Batman movie is already a feat in itself, never mind thinking just how fluid it should be to cast all of those characters and then some. There's also the issue of whether Jared Leto will ever sign up again to play the Clown Prince of Crime. Backlash aside, his claims of having filmed a lot of scenes only to have them cut out of Suicide Squad may not be the best way to woo him into another movie.

The script itself has already seen a lot of changes and change of hands. It had been written first by Affleck and Geoff Johns before it was passed on to Chris Terrio for a full rewrite. And since there has been a change in direction, it seems that the script will see another overhaul.

Previous reports have already pegged Matt Reeves as a potential director to lead the creative team.

We'll have to wait and see how The Batman project goes. With all of the previous pressure now off of Affleck's shoulders, hopefully this will signal in better days ahead for this particular DC movie.
