Shazam! is currently in pre-production, and it seems like casting for the lead role in Captain Marvel's first solo installment in the DC Extended Universe has just begun with new candidates coming to light.
Last week reports came out that Warner Bros. had already started doing screen tests for the role of Billy Batson. This week the production's started searching for an actor to play his superhero alterego, and it looks like Baby Daddy star Derek Theler got a chance to join the auditions.
Taking to Snapchat tast night, Theler decided to tell fans that he had a big day ahead of him. Today, providing an update on the image messaging application, the actor revealed that he had just came out of an audition. Sure he may not have specified who he ended up auditioning for, but the thunderbolt on the center of his shadow says it all – Shazam!
The Snapchat image doesn't specify whether Theler ended up as one of the top candidates, but we're certainly hoping that the audition went well. The Babby Daddy actor has always wanted to play Shazam. Last year he tried to start a campaign to land the role, and his enthusiasm for the part is pretty clear. Let's wait and see what happens next.
