Avengers: Infinity War to Focus on A Few Heroes & Give Meaningful Roles to Most

Russo brothers Joe and Anthony have shown their competence when it comes to managing a big production cast in Captain America: Civil War. But it may be put to the test once more with Avengers: Infinity War.

The current body count in the upcoming film is said to be around 67 characters at the moment. And the most that the directors have done is to trim it down to—66. But given their record for ensemble cast, and the great handling done to the heroes of the last Captain America movie, it seems that this won't be a problem.

Speaking to Toronto Sun, the Russos revealed their plans on how the next Marvel ensemble movie will be like.

"It's an incredible piece of casting. You couldn't ask for better… we do consider everyone. What we did in Civil War is exactly what we want to do in the Avengers—no matter how much screen time a character has, you can still have a lot of ambition for what you do with that character while you have them."

One good case is Ant-Man, whose appearance wasn't just about comic relief, but also that memorable not-so-Tic-Tac event at the airport. What this also suggests is there will be a focal point in the story that majorly involves a handful of characters. That's a pretty good way to streamline the story.

In fact, the brothers have even hinted at one possible addition to the already expansive Avengers cast. They mentioned looking forward to working again with Brie Larson, who was recently cast as Captain Marvel.

Avengers: Infinity War will be out in theaters in 2018, with a sequel coming later on in 2019.
