Avengers Infinity War: Joe Russo on the Connection between Tony Stark and Thanos

Avengers: Infinity War is almost out, and it promises to bring to the spotlight one of Marvel's biggest villains, Thanos the Mad Titan. Of course, with Tony Stark being the face of the franchise, there's going to be a huge clash between the two, and co-director Joe Russo talks about how the characters are connected.

Talking to The Telegraph India, Russo explains:

"I think he has the most specific connection to Tony because Tony is a futurist, and he has predicted a threat like Thanos. It's lived in his brain even though he couldn't name it. Tony is the most desperately driven, down to the core, to react against something like Thanos, although all the heroes will face a threat, no matter who it is or where it comes from. But I think this is intrinsic to Tony's psychology, and because Tony started it all with Iron Man, he has a special connection to the threat that's facing him."

It's actually interesting to see how much Stark has grown as a character over the past decade. With the first Iron Man establishing him as an alcoholic womanizer, now he's actually a pretty PG-friendly guy who, based on Spider-Man: Homecoming, is finally going to commit to a marriage.

I'll admit, I think Stark isn't as fun to watch as he was back in the early days of the MCU, but I understand that Marvel has to keep things kid-friendly for the younger people in the audience.

Stark and the other Avengers clash with Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War out on April 27.
